The County Assessor’s office will require the title to the vehicle before they will provide a waiver. If property taxes are owed they will have to be paid or before the Assessor will provide a waiver allowing the DMV to license the vehicle.

3. The recipient must provide the DMV with proof of at least liability insurance on the vehicle in-order to license the vehicle.

Important Notice

The Vehicle Donation Initiative is not an instant gratification process. There is a waiting list of potential recipients the program works through in the order that we receive the applications. Exceptions may be made for crisis situations. Donations are also based on the availability of vehicles that are to be donated.

We work directly with the referral organizations and not with the client related to the donation timelines. To prevent giving false hope we do not provide timelines to clients as to when they may receive a vehicle until they are next on the list and vehicle has passed inspection and is ready to be donated.
